Vectorial Subway Maps

The most fascinating maps are the ones made for the subway, and they are for a lot of people the basic inspiration to create diagrams. I found this web with plenty of them and you can even find them vectorial instead of pictures.

This is an example of one picture of one of the many many subways listed:

Lladró Porcelain and their design/production process

It does worth the effort of watching the video, I am impress of the way these people do things...

Minai Experience by La Mamba studio

These extremely slim metal structures + the high quality textile materials defined by the maximization of the cushion properties, make this pieces of exterior furniture amazing. Just have a look to their simplicity... (these pieces are part of Valencia Disseny Week 2010 and they obviously made in Valencia, but the designers are multicultural which makes the whole thing more interesting).

Re;energy by Jin Sik Kim and Bo Sung Seo

"The bike collects usable energy generated by the pedaling in its front wheel to recharge electrical devices such a laptop, mp3, cell phone and more."

I am always looking for this bold forward ideas, to reuse energy efficiently, its a pity that we lose our energies pedaling without getting anything from it. Although I think that at the end, connect your equipment to a bicycle is simple not going that work that well... If you are on the bike, having a cable connected to the wheel just makes it easy to have an accident. And if you are like in the picture just chilling in the park you have to keep an eye on the bike + your electrical equipment + make sure that the bike doesn't move.

But the idea of reusing the energy is brilliant. I am sorry but I couldn't find a link to them :-(

Ecotality ev Charger by Frog Design

I've seen electrical charges before for cars, but this is in fact the best example I've ever seen, simple, functional, clean... and without the typical "green" slogan which I am bored of it... No green icons, or sentences, or color (although there is a Eco in the name...).  They have thought about it, and you can appreciate this fact just by looking to the final product. The video doesn't tell much that you couldn't guess by yourself but it's ok to get some interesting picks.

Brickbox by Antxon Salvador and Roger Zanni

It's not the first time that I post this kind of thing. I found very interesting the notion of furniture that can be used in other ways, in this case you can make a bookcase and once you move to another place you can carry all the books inside as regular boxes. Or you can configure if you need all the bookcase or if you want some boxes apart.

Silke Kinetic Chandelier by Sebastian Neitsch

I had an "experience" I can't describe while I was watching this video... the video is fantastic, and the lamp is also impressive, the idea of a lamp that focus on individuals and its able to interact is not so common. I've seen many art installations with this concept but not so many designed products.

Although if I were him I would improve the interface of his web... because with such works its a pity the way his web it's done.

Hairstyles of the 20th Century

I found this by chance and I think its an interesting evolution. I don't like the drawings though.

Funnel Vase by Roger Arquer

Because watering your plants sometimes is so complicated... this is one the best ideas I came to see lately. And it's such a good design that it doesn't need explanations, talks for itself.

Also check his Mousetraps, I am not posting the pictures because I see traps as animal cruelty (no violent pictures on the link, don't worry), but they are bold.

Yksi Chair by Alexander Brink and Antti Pulli

A chair made from a single sheet of thick Cardboard, it can be stored and shipped flat. It has no separate parts or joins so its highly efficient, and it could be folded or unfolded in seconds. The most interesting part for me is the fact that is recyclable and the way the joints are made by slicing away strips of the outer layer and exposing the corrugated brown fiber within. The designers are still students from Aalto University in Finland. I don't know the price but I see these chairs as a really good deal, if I were their teacher they would have gotten an A+
